These started out as one. But I couldn't make up my mind about some parts of the design so they became two. Figured what the hell, they're small, why not go down both paths. Find out what happens.

Somehow, that's how a lot of my attempts at design go. I have no real background in it, so every piece is a new attempt, not just trying to design something, trying to learn how to design something.

 

My drawing is amateurish, at best, so the only way to envision these things is to make a mock-up. But mock-ups never really look like the finish wood will. Poplar's not maple. Stained poplar's not black palm. So, the box is still being designed as its being built. Sort of a recipe for disaster.

 

 

Anyway, these are what happened. Mr.Box (Mr. by virtue of being larger) is made of quilted maple and black palm. Mrs. Box is panga-panga and masur birch. Both are very small (approx 1.5" x 2.5" x 6.5") so not much will fit inside, but that's all right. They hold what they can. A small service aptly performed. Disaster escaped.
